The Steel Strap and the Strapping
Strapping or banding is the process of reinforcing supply containers with a strap to hold the containers in place. The strap can also be called as the strapping itself. The process of strapping or bundling is commonly used in the packaging industry where the finished product is drawn taut and then bundled.
There are also different types of straps that cater to a particular product or item. It can depend on whether the material is heavy or light, and large or small. Straps ranged from the steel, the tensilized strap (also called polypropylene strap), polyester to the most unconventional ones like nylon, paper and composite straps.
From these different straps, there are also different usages of the straps in various loading and transporting duties. Straps can bundle items for the transportation and shipment of materials like newspapers and concrete blocks, therefore, saving time and energy in loading the shipments to necessary modes of transportation. They are also used for attaching items, reinforcing boxes and crates, for holding bales of textiles and herbal products and securing items which are vital for any company’s production.
One of the oldest and the most-used of these various kinds of straps is the
steel strap
. The highest tensile in terms of strength strapping, it is available in a gamut of widths and girths as well as different designs in the evaluation of the steel. Steel straps are used for heavy loads of holding where the necessary and required stength and stretch is much more likely.
The
steel strap
has also the characteristics of surface finishes which can give the straps a better handling and mobility when it is applied to bundled to a good. Examples of the different finishes for the steel strap are: paint, zinc, and wax.
On the other hand, the process of
steel strapping
has found much utilization in the manufacturing field which includes steel coils, bricks, hordes of metals that needs some bundling, a band of baling wire and pavers. Strapping can be made by two types of equipment which are the hand tools and the strapping machines. Some of these have also built-in dispensers to automatically turn new coils from the straps itself.
